Example text

Yellow celluloid handles will sometimes exhibit a “white liner”; that is, at the edge of the handle where it meets the liner there will be a distinct layer of white. The appearance is such that it looks like the bright yellow outer handle material layer was deposited on a sheet of white substrate material However, depending upon how the handle was molded and attached to the liner, the “white liner” will not always be visible (see the accompanying photos). As many knife collectors are aware, this older celluloid material has a tendency to rapidly decompose if stored improperly and many knives will be found with the handles either “crazed” with cracks or partially or completely disintegrated, even on a knife that does not exhibit much use or abuse.

The examples just listed are from the Case Tested era. More modern examples of some “double zero” pattern knives include the 620035 and 620035 1/2 jack patterns (variations of the 6235 and the 6235 1/2) and the 640045 R (variation of the 6445 R). These knives were designed and built less expensively so that they could be priced at lower price points as compared to the “standard” Case pocket knife patterns that were similar.
